Matt's Wild Cherry (small red tomato)
Size: Extra Small Cherry
Teresa Arellanos de Mena brought seed to Maine from her family in Hidalgo, Mexico. Tall, vigorous, rangy,, regular-leaf tomato plant with thousands of half-inch red cherry tomatoes, borne in clusters. This small-sized cherry is called "currant." Fruits have a very sweet, delicious taste. Like snacking on candy. Some tasters claim it's the most complex of all cherry tomato flavor profiles. This variety that should do well in cooler growing regions as it appears to have some frost resistance. Many growers claim that Matt's is their favorite variety for both taste and prolific growth. Great for sprinkling these "jewels" into a salad. Plant has an indeterminate growth habit (needs a tall tomato cage). Good subs if sold out are Sweet Million and Fruit Punch Cherry.
