Developed by John Siegel of Covington, Ohio, from a cross between Schimmeig Creg and a pink beefsteak. Introduced to Seed Savers Exchange by Al Anderson of Troy, Ohio in 2007. One of the Top 3 "best-tasting" tomatoes of Gary Ibsen's Carmel TomatoFest. Regular-leaf tomato plants yield a plentiful crop of 3-4 inch, mahogany colored fruit with dark, olive-green striping (similar to black zebra). Fruits have delicious, complex, rich, sweet, earthy tomato flavors. . Produces well into the autumn. A great sandwich and salad tomato. We love dark tomatoes like this one for their excellent, smokey-sweet flavor and gorgeous color. Plant has an indeterminate growth habit (needs a tall tomato cage). A good sub, if sold out, is Hippie Zebra.

Biodynamic-certified young tomato plant. Pre-order now for pick up at Love Apple Farms Spring Plant Sale.

Grafted plants produce more fruit with fewer problems. "Grafted" means: A disease-resistant hybrid tomato plant is the rootstock upon which the grafted heirloom is spliced, making for an extra-strong, super high-yielding tomato plant.
